Workshops by Wachter and Jud
Tools for the Next Revolution was an open, hands-on workshop held on 28 October 2017 and conducted by the winners of the 2016 Prix Ars Electronica, Golden Nica Interactive Art+, Wachter and Jud (CH/DE).
The workshop explored the possibilities of expression in the communication society and uncovered the narratives and power structures behind it. Participants created their own Internet independent Wifi communication network, learn how to use it and how to extend the range of WiFi-networks with self-built antennas.
The workshop was preceded by a talk from the artists who presented their research on the importance of the Cyprus internet infrastructure in the Middle East, North Africa and Southern Europe but also the problems of surveillance and privacy.
The workshop acted as a platform for hacker groups and IT experts from Limassol and Nicosia with whom further meetings were organised in Hack66 and Hacker Space Lefkosia.
